Samurai Geisha Costumes
The Samurai culture comes from Japan and as such, sexy costumes don’t really come into the picture. You can look hot as a Samurai Geisha however. You have the option of revealing as much or as little skin as you want which really gives you a big range of scope when thinking about this costume.
One of the details to keep in mind when shopping for a Geisha costume is that they are typically red and black. They may be silky (like a boxers robe) or of a smooth fabric, either way, red, black and sometimes white are the main colors to go for.
A cool accessory to this costume which will make you stand out (and help you on warm nights while at the costume parties) is the fan. The Geisha costume is almost always accompanied by a fan (the typical Japanese sort that fan open). You can sometimes pick these up in cheap shops which are full or knick knacks or in department stores such as Walmart.
High heeled shoes are optimum, whether they are knee high boots or strapless shoes will really depend on the style of costume you go for. Knee high boots look best in black although red may be another option if you prefer. Oriental symbols (particularly Japanese) and dragon images go a long way to making this costume seem even more authentic. If you are taking on the challenge of making a costume like this yourself, be sure to buy fabric that has oriental dragons already drawn into it.

The History of the Samurai Warrior
The history of Samurai Warriors dates way back to around 538AD. This is when Buddhism was first introduced to Japan. It wasn’t until the start of the Heian Period (794 – 1185) however when the importance of the Samurai really grew.
During the Heian Period landowners throughout Japan started to hire Samurai Warriors to protect their land. Around 1185AD the Minamoto and Taira clans had grown so powerful that they fought each other for control of Japan.
After losing a battle a Samurai would often prefer to commit suicide than to be captured by the enemy and be humiliated.
Being a Samurai Warrior was a great privilege and demanded respect. Samurai’s were allowed two carry swords with them whereas everyday people weren’t allowed to carry any form of weapons.
Even though the role of the Samurai Warrior faded away towards the end of the 18th century, the Samurai culture built around respect and loyalty lives on. The Samurai has been glorified in many movies, books, and video games. Perhaps the most famous Samurai movie to date is Tom Cruise’s “The Last Samurai”. Other movies such as Star Wars and The Magnificent Seven have also been greatly influenced by the Samurai culture through Bushido and “The Seven Samurai” respectively.
As an alternative to a Samurai Costume, this Halloween you might want to consider to buy a Vampire costume or the ultra cool Storm Shadow Costumes. These are two classic alternatives that are sure to be hits in 2009.
